BOLIVIA'S COMMITMENT
To The Paris Agreement And Net Zero 2050
To The Paris Agreement And Net Zero 2050
Bolivia has also aligned its climate and energy policies with the Paris Agreement, submitting updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that outline how it will mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen adaptation to climate impacts, and pursue sustainable development consistent with the global goal of limiting temperature rise well below 2 °C. As part of this, the government’s NDC 3.0 for the period 2026–2035 integrates sector-specific targets—including in the energy sector—to reduce emissions, expand renewable energy, and increase resilience in a way that reflects Bolivia’s needs and capacities.
In the energy sector, Bolivia has articulated a roadmap to transition toward cleaner power generation, aiming to significantly raise the share of renewable generation in its national electricity mix—targeting about 75 % renewable electricity by 2035—as part of efforts to lower emissions and attract green investment.
These goals reflect both mitigation (reducing dependence on fossil fuels) and adaptation priorities (building sustainable energy systems and resilient infrastructure) in line with its Paris commitments, while also seeking international cooperation and financing to help achieve its climate ambitions.
